Who we are
wantanaccountant.com (“Want an Accountant?”) is operated by ROSTO SRL, a limited liability company incorporated in Romania (Trade Register no. J40/9904/1994, tax and EU VAT number RO5801425), registered office Str. Știrbei Vodă nr. 166, bloc 20C, ap. 5, sector 1, 010121 Bucharest, Romania (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@wantanaccountant.com.
Because we are established in the European Union, we process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For visitors in the United Kingdom, we also follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. For visitors in the United States, we describe below the rights you may have under the privacy laws of your state.
Business owners who request quotes
What we collect: your name, email address and phone number; details about your business (structure, industry, business name, company number where you give it, year started, tax position, revenue band, monthly volume of sales and expenses, employees, services needed, state or region and city, budget, start date and any notes you add); the text and time of your consent; and technical data (IP address, browser, the page that referred you).
Why we use it: to check your request and pass it to up to three accountants who serve your state or region, so they can contact you with a quote; to send you a confirmation and service emails about your request; and to prevent fraud and duplicate requests.
Legal basis: your consent (given in the form) to share your request with accountants; our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and free of abuse.
Who receives it: our team, and at most three accountants selected for your request. Each accountant agrees to use your details only to contact you about your request, and becomes responsible for their own dealings with you. We never sell your data and never publish your request.
Accountants who join as partners
What we collect: firm name, professional body or firm type, company number where given, contact name, email, phone (and WhatsApp number where provided), website, the states or regions you cover, services offered, your consent, and technical data. When you pay, our payment provider Stripe processes your card details — we never see or store full card numbers.
Why we use it: to create and manage your account, assign requests to you, take payments, issue invoices, and send service notifications by email, text message or WhatsApp (new requests assigned, payments, plan status). We do not send marketing messages by text or WhatsApp. You can turn text and WhatsApp notifications off at any time in your account or by writing to partners@wantanaccountant.com; in the US you can also reply STOP to any text.
Legal basis: performance of our contract with you; our legal obligations (accounting and tax records); our legitimate interests (security, service improvement).
Service providers
We use processors who act on our instructions: Contabo GmbH (hosting, Germany); Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (email delivery, Ireland region); Stripe (payments); and, once enabled, Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) for text messages and Whapi.cloud with WhatsApp Ireland Limited for WhatsApp messages. If we turn on Google Analytics, it will only run after you accept analytics cookies (see our cookie policy).
International transfers
Our servers are in the European Union. When you request quotes from accountants in the United States or the United Kingdom, your request is transferred to those accountants because you asked us to do so; for other transfers outside the EU and UK we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
Quote requests: 3 years from our last contact with you, then deleted or anonymised. Partner accounts: for the length of the partnership, then 3 years from the last contact, without prejudice to our legal obligation to keep invoices. Proof of consent: as long as needed to defend our rights.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing or withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn’t affect what was done before). Write to hello@wantanaccountant.com; we reply within one month.
UK: you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). EU: you can complain to the Romanian supervisory authority (ANSPDCP, dataprotection.ro) or the authority where you live.
US residents: depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email us; we will verify your request and respond within the time required by your state’s law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, stored on servers in the EU and accessible only to authorised staff. Accountants only see contact details for requests assigned to them.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
